Meet the Music Ministry Staff

Angela Burns, Director of Music Ministries

Angela BurnsAngela Burns, originally from Wilmington, NC, felt a musical calling at a very young age. She was raised in a musical family and began her own studies at the age of five. She knew from the age of eight that she would use the gift that the Lord has given her in some way to touch others. Angela received a Bachelor of Music degree from East Carolina University with a focus in voice and a minor in piano. She currently holds the position of Assistant Manager and vocalist/soloist with the official chorus of the United States Air Force, the Singing Sergeants. She has been a featured vocalist both regionally and nationally. Prior to moving to the DC area, she taught junior high school music and had over 65 private voice and piano students. Angela resides in Alexandria VA with her husband, Cory Reifert, and daughter, Mikayla.   

 

Tammy Zerbo, In His Name Youth Choir Director, Good News Players Director (1st - 3rd grades), Good News Singers Director (1st - 6th grades), and Cherub Choir Director (ages 4-Kindergarten)

Tammy Zerbo received a Master of Music Education and a Bachelor of Music with concentrations in vocal and choral performance and has completed teacher certification for Orff Schulwerk Pedagogy.  She has taught high school and middle school chorus, music theater, voice, and piano. Throughout her family's many military moves, she has worked for several churches as director of youth choir, assistant chancel choir director, featured soloist, and Vacation Bible School music director.

Rob Aughtry, Handbell Director

Robert Aughtry has been a flutist in The United States Army Band, "Pershing's Own" since joining the Army in the summer of 2000.  Prior to moving to the DC metropolitan area, he was living in Baton Rouge, LA where he completed the coursework for a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Louisiana State University.  He holds a Master of Music degree in flute performance and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a Performance Certificate from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC.From 2006 to 2011, he was the Director of Handbells at Fairfax United Methodist Church, working with ringers of all ages, as well as arranging music for concerts, musicals, and special events.

Linda Brese, Organist

Linda Brese grew up in Ashland, KY, where she learned to play the piano and organ. As a teenager, she accompanied the children's choirs and substituted as organist at her own church and other churches in town. After graduating from Vanderbilt University, she traveled as a Navy wife to South Carolina, Hawaii, Connecticut, and Virginia, teaching piano lessons and playing the organ in various churches. She has been active in Burke United Methodist Church since 1994, playing handbells, accompanying choirs, and singing in the Chancel Choir. In 2009, she earned the American Guild of Organists Service Playing Certificate. She lives in Fairfax Station with her husband, Bob. Her son, Chris, was married to Cassie last year, and son Rob is a student at Ohio State University.
